PARC'S Mission PARC'S Mission

Objectives

• To promote road safety through educational programmes and community activities.
• To work with all public representatives, Road Safety Authority and An Garda Síochána.
• To focus attention on the need for fresh legislation to ensure compulsory testing at all collision scenes.

To highlight
• The need for appropriate, clearly visible and frequent road signage, particularly in relation to speed limits.
• The need for trained road traffic collision investigators and medical personnel.

To seek
• Greater safety measures at road work locations.
• The resolution of cross border road safety issues.
• Appropriate support for families who have been affected by road traffic collisions.

PARC Aims & Objectives PARC Aims & Objectives

1. To ensure that legislation is introduced for the compulsory testing of all drivers involved in road traffic collisions for alcohol and drugs
2. To call for a reduction in drink-driving limits from 80mg to 50mg. 

3. To abolish crash form fees for immediate families of those killed on our roads.
4. To promote road safety through educational programmes and community activities.
5. To continue PARC road safety competitions in both Primary and Secondary schools.
6. To continue highlighting the need for a reduction to the drink driving limit- zero tolerance.
7. To call for legislation to ensure that a learner driver cannot renew his/her learner permit without first sitting a driving test.
8. To commemorate all those who have died in crashes on 'World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims'.
9. To provide information and support to people personally affected by road carnage, through PARC membership.
10. To highlight problems encountered by PARC members personally affected by road carnage.
11. To do all we can to ensure that international best practice in Road Safety is implemented in the investigation and prosecution of all fatal collisions.
12. To seek comprehensive accident information and support for families of victims of fatal collisions without undue delays.
